I just got back from the first ever Western Canadian Permaculture Convergence.
It was an inspiring gathering of people passionate about reclaiming land, justice, taking care of each other, local food, community and being good to each other.
I led a few workshops on marketing for them and, of course, niching came up a few times. I’ll be writing more about what came out of that in a few weeks but one thing someone said really jumped out at me.
“What is your place in the world? And what is your role in that place?”
The word niche comes from the French verb ‘nicher’ (to make a nest). And this what we’re always trying to get at with niching – finding our place in this world. And our role in it. Trying to find that balance between our wounds, our gifts and our nature.
