I’m an activist-turned-acupuncturist who offers “care for caregivers and changemakers.”

Through my own struggles maintaining my physical/mental health while fighting for social and environmental justice, a shift happened. I realized I had to change my attitude toward “the work” or I would burn out completely. I felt exhausted, ineffective and frustrated, stuck in community dynamics that were draining, unhealthy and reproducing the very power dynamics we were fighting to end.

Over the past ten years, I struggled through broadening my view of social change to include healing – personally, interpersonally, and ecologically. I deepened my view of spiritual work as integral to “the revolution.” I kept contributing to my family and community, but in new and refreshed ways. And I felt called to support caregivers and changemakers, with the healing wisdom of my ancestral (traditional Chinese) medicine.

Traditional Chinese medicine balances the whole person – body, mind, emotions and spirit. Often caregivers and changemakers are so busy meeting the needs of family and community, our own health suffers. I am particularly interested in managing stress, pain, burnout, adrenal fatigue, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and trauma recovery. I help do-gooders relax, sleep better, feel calm, focused, creative and rejuvenated. We need you, we need us all, not just to survive, but to THRIVE – for the long haul.

I’m a Naturopathic Medical student and I’m working on a website for comparing technology services for health practitioners. I want to evaluate EMR, Apps, software and website development services for the health practitioner community.

I grew up in Toronto but lived in Montreal when I went to McGill for my undergrad. I don’t know why now but I love the south of France along with soccer, ukulele and cheese.

I want to begin my practice in Toronto with a community clinic and create a model that helps those without insurance. I have no idea how to focus in marketing without focusing my practice on any one modality or ‘disease group’. I’d love to work collaboratively with other practitioners.

I’m a vegan food educator currently based here in Toronto. I teach hands-on vegan cooking classes and food coaching. I run a little business called Know Thy Food and my goal is to help people navigate the ins and outs of the whole food vegan diet, regardless of whether they are vegan or not. I specialize in helping people transition to the whole food vegan diet and offer a program called Vegan: Step by Step. It is a program I built to guide the veg curious as well as the vegans.??

My background is in environmental studies and I have been teaching for quite a few years, as well as doing project coordination in the non-profit sector. I started my business about 3 years ago, but have only been running it full time for 2 years (I finally took the plunge). I am also a certified Yoga instructor, dedicated animal rights and environmental activist, lover of travel, speaker of a few languages, and I’ve been known to sing (and if I get over stage fright I’ll go back to it).

??I love a good cup of coffee, being with friends and family, growing my business, and making a difference in the world. Yup, I’m a hippy in disguise (guess Tad knows his niche well!)

Well, it all started when I was 13 years old. While we were giving each other massages in our classroom, I was told that i could make a career out of massaging. I graduated high school to directly go into massage therapy in Montreal where I accomplished learning an array of techniques including Swedish, Sports and Chair massage, Shiatsu and Masso-Kinesiotherapy. I worked for 3 different sports therapy clinics and 2 chair massage contractors. 2 years later, I woke up on morning and chose to move to British Colombia to further my studies. I was registered to practice in BC 2 following the move. Once graduated and registered, I moved to Nelson, BC where I have been practicing this passion of mine for 4 years. I am now the mother of my 14 month old son Nikolai, who brings me SO much light and inspiration 🙂

In July, a friend and I started our dream business! We started Nelson’s Health and Wellness Collective.. Our space is one where we will collectively work together in educating and assisting peoples health by addressing mind-body-soul. We are reaching out to practitioners and therapists in our community to join us in our network. This has been a vision I have had since I was a teenager. I feel honoured to have been given this mission, at this time 🙂

Michaela Otto

I am a shamanic coach and practitioner and I can imagine many of you are wondering what the heck shamanism is! Shamanism has come to mean both traditional and contemporary earth-based spiritual and healing practices. In traditional cultures, the shaman is the person who specializes in bridging the world of spirit and the world of the physical so that others can come into alignment and harmony within themselves, with the natural world, and with others. Shamanism recognizes the world of spirit, honours all the worlds of Grandmother earth and shows us how to bridge these two worlds. Shamanism is the ancient knowledge of how to live: in balance – in all of our five aspects (spiritual, physical, emotional, mental and sexual); in harmony – within and without, and; in beauty – of our shining and our dream. In contemporary societies, shamanism can be a spiritual path, a path of healing and an alternative to psychotherapy.

I initially got into shamanism because I knew I needed healing – I had a very young daughter and I did not want to pass my wounds onto her. I have studied with a number of shamanic institutes, have undergone many ceremonies, learned another cosmology and found my own gift and path which is to share this approach and knowledge with others. Learning how to replace the negative inner dialogue with the voice of my spirit allows me to continue the adventure of finding out what my spirit has come to do!
