Dove’s Real Beauty Campaign

There’s a lot of ‘good washing’ out there. Major corporations putting a little money and a lot of hype into good works in the community. And perhaps Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty is an example of that. What do you think? Regardless of whether it is or not – the ad itself is brilliant in making its point.

I don’t know anything about Dove as a company. I don’t buy their products. I do know that they’ve been actively campaigning for greater diversity in terms of size, ethnicity and age in their ads for at LEAST a decade – I remember how impressed I was when I first saw their all-ages, all-sizes, all-colours ads in magazines many moons ago.

This was years before the recent flurries of debate on Size 0 on the catwalk.
