Diane Robertson

http://balance2center.com

I entered into work as an engineer with very specific reasons and the idea that I would do that work for 5 to 10 years and then go do what I really had passion about.  When not working the crazy hours of a consulting engineer and project manager I spent the majority of my remaining time and resources attending any kind of healing workshop that crossed my path and continually studying a wide variety of healing modalities with intense interest.

Around the 5 year mark into my engineering work, some kind of internal alarm went off saying, ‘Ok, I’m done with this now.  What’s next?’  My first and natural inclination was psychology or ministry, having always been fascinated and drawn to spirituality, consciousness, and human potential.  But when I listened into my heart and my internal guidance, I got a really clear, strong message to start with the body.  Not the answer I expected, but I followed it… attending massage school, studying acupressure and oriental medicine, and craniosacral – adding to all the energy healing modalities I had studied over the years.  I am continually fascinated by bodywork and how it can be such a powerful entryway or mover along with one’s spiritual or personal development.  I am most energized by the intersection of the body and consciousness; and nurturing my client’s relationship to their bodies.

Emily is a speaker, money relationship mentor, and creator of the Mind, Body, and Spirit of Money Systemâ„¢.  Since 1999 Emily has helped governments, businesses, and everyday people build a new relationship with money.  From analyzing multi-million dollar budgets to helping drug addicts who couldn’t pay rent (but could find $100k per year for drugs), Emily has been fascinated with how our mindset, emotions, and experiences affect how we make, save, and spend money–and our overall happiness.  Combining her budget analyst training, her experience helping large and small businesses become profitable, and the lessons from digging out after her own ego-crushing financial breakdown, Emily’s passion is helping her clients go from stressed, anxious, and unsure, to calm, confident, and happy–with their money, and their lives.

Jeanell Innerarity

http://www.SomaGaia.net

My name is Jeanell Ruth Innerarity. I love bodies. I love nature. I love to connect people to their bodies and to nature, ideally at the same time. I have a huge toolkit of ways to do this and I’m slowly–much more slowly than I anticipated–learning how to clarify for myself and communicate to others what it is that I do. My background includes a BA in Environmental Studies with a lot of travel and exchange living in ecovillages around the world and working on farms and in wilderness settings. I’m certified in Permaculture and Ecovillage Design. I tried to be a farmer and it turned out that I wasn’t very well suited to farming but the other farmers always wanted me to teach them yoga. I tried to get jobs in the environmental field and I ended up getting a job at an improvisational dance magazine and that’s when I got the message: my work is in the somatic field with an environmental focus, not the other way around. I am a licensed massage practitioner/therapist in two states, I’m a registered yoga teacher and have been teaching for about seven years, and I’m a certified foot reflexologist. My big passion in the massage field is Maya Abdominal Therapy, of which I am a practitioner. I also completed the first of four years of Feldenkrais practitioner training and I would love to go back and complete that work in the near future.

How did I get here? I got into martial arts and yoga pretty serendipitously and felt very at home in both fields. That gave me a strong somatic foundation at an early age. I was introduced to improvisational dance after my first year of college and found that it spoke to me and healed me on many levels. At the time I was a psychology and environmental studies major trying to decide which one to commit to. I then did a semester of school at the Findhorn Foundation Community in northern Scotland and it became clear to me that environmental studies was the way I wanted to go. I stayed with the somatic arts because they were deeply therapeutic for me, but I always thought I was going to work in the environmental field. Then I had a really awful job and I asked myself, if I could do anything, what would I do? And it was Feldenkrais training. And then I got the job at the dance magazine and the rest, as they say, is just the beginning…..

I am a recent graduate of Bastyr’s naturopathic doctor program. Prior to this I worked in the environmental field for a decade and as a massage therapist for the past 5 years.   I am grateful for the opportunity to do the naturopathic work that I love.  As a new dr waiting for my license, I have many ideas for marketing, but have yet to rely on them for my income. I have been working on finalizing my website, I have found a nice opportunity to share space with another ND in my neighborhood, and have started to scout out referral practitioners and other networking opportunities.  I have spent most of my time with the nuts and bolts of the business and just starting to focus on the heart and soul of my work.  Of course I want to be sustainable in my work realm so I can do the work I love while affording my student loans and budget.

My husband and  own a design firm  but I am ready to move on to what I really love to do: teaching. Rather than muddle thru the process of building another business, I want to learn about marketing strategies that will work for me. Here’s the intro/bio I wrote for the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Alliance website … it’s got strengths and weaknesses but it’s where I’m at right now in terms of marketing skills:

Do you need to release who you were and become more of who you truly are? Kundalini Yoga gives you vitality and a deeper connection to your True Self. My experience with Kundalini Yoga since 1996 has been transformative, healing, and an amazing journey of self discovery and growth.

From the first time a man in a white turban subbed for my local gym’s yoga class, my body was hooked even tho my mind said “Hmmm. This is kinda weird. And there’s no way I’m ever getting up at 4 am to take a cold shower, put on white clothes and do yoga.” Seventeen years later, I do all that and more on a regular basis and I am ALIVE, loving embodiment, and grateful to be able to share the teachings of Kundalini Yoga to all who come my way.

My spiritual name in the KY tradition is Hari Sadhana Kaur … the lioness whose strong spiritual practice and whose loving heart constantly keep her divine flow steady towards Infinite Creative Consciousness. I currently teach classes on an island in Puget Sound about one hour northwest of Seattle. I arrived on Whidbey Island in 1999 after living in such far flung places as Singapore, Chicago, Bangkok, Baton Rouge, and Austin, MN – home of SPAM!

After spraining my back in a serious fall, I began to search for ways to improve my fitness yet accommodate my injuries. Over the years I have earned certification as an instructor of Kundalini Yoga, BodyFlow, Zumba Gold, Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for Diabetes in the Sun style. According to my various students, I “radiate kindness and calm”. Come join me and discover ways for achieving better balance in your life.

Sofia Olson

 http://sofiaolsoncoaching.com

Hi!  I’m Sofia.  I am a life coach who helps social justice minded people/anarchists/queers who are stressed out, overwhelmed, or dissillusioned with their work for a just society learn to love their lives while organizing for change.  I’m also a bookkeeper who helps directors of small non-profits feel peace-of-mind about the finances of the organization.  My bookkeeping income mostly supports me right now, and I’m looking mostly to grow my coaching business, which, at the moment, is extraordinarily small.

I was a serious queer, anarchist, social justice activist for several years until I got burnt out and started looking for ways to become happier and enjoy my life.  One of the things that I found that brought me real hope was the work of Martha Beck, her book “Steering by Starlight”.  I’d been wanting to find ways to work one-on-one with people to help them heal, and particularly to help people heal the ways that we’re wounded in our places of privilege (i.e. being male, white, upper/middle class, etc) that keep us acting in ways that reinforce the privilege, and keep us from acting solidly as allies in the work to undo those oppressions.  So, I went through Martha Beck’s life coach training program, forgot who I wanted to work with and muddled around for a year or so until I remembered.  I’ve developed a workshop called “A Wholehearted Approach to Allyship”, which is a really successful merging of the tools that I learned from the life coach training program with the anti-oppression analysis that I’ve worked with for a while.

Tanaya Iversen

I believe the world would be a better place if every birth was on the mother’s terms. You know your body and intuitively, you know how to give birth.  But in the beautiful, messy, spiritual, painful and sometimes chaotic moments that precede birth, it is easy to get lost in the details.  It is easy to forget how strong you really are.

That is why I’m here.  To give you those gentle reminders.  To tell you that you can do this and that you are strong and powerful and amazing.

My name is Tanaya and I am a birth doula in Seattle, WA.  I specialize in empowering parents to make informed decisions about the birthing process.  I provide continuous physical, informational and emotional support during labor and birth while holding a space for you, your family, and your partner(s) to experience this life changing event on your own terms.

Tina Huang

http://lifelongenerjoy.com

My name is Dr. Tina EnerJoy! (a.k.a. Tina Huang, Ph.D.) and I’m your holistic healer for a happy & healthy brain!
I have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, postdoctoral research in neuro- and nutritional epidemiology and am an holistic healer and health coach.

Over the last 18 years, I’ve been on a search for natural and underlying causes of psychiatric and neurological diseases.  I believe I’ve found some of the most progressive and exciting strategies to address and eliminate underlying causes of depression, anxiety, problems with attention and much more!    In addition to using energy tools  and a variety of natural strategies to quickly overcome blocks to success, I support my clients in developing a brain-healthy lifestyle!

What got me into it:
Throughout my life, I struggled with depression, anxiety, lack of self-esteem and learning disabilities, and so I had a strong interest in safe and effective strategies for mental and cognitive health.  I took two courses in neurofeedback and considered being a neurofeedback provider.  In between postdoctoral fellowships, I worked as the Director of Research for Transparent Corporation, which makes Brainwave Entrainment Software.  A few years ago, I was introduced to Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and soon found this technique to do more for my mental health than anything I’d previously discovered.  This technique helped me to overcome my social anxiety, my issues with self-esteem and address many aspects of my mental health, and so I decided to help others find greater mental health by becoming an EFT practitioner and teacher as well.  I soon discovered the field of health coaching which I find a natural transition from the academic to personal aspect of public health! .   I then discovered the Emotion Code and the Body Code which allow me to get at underlying causes of disease & behaviors which has been my lifelong passion! Today due to the strategies I use, I am happier and healthier than I ever could have imagined.   I feel so strongly about the power of the strategies that I offer that I started LifeLong EnerJoy in order to help others achieve the joy and health I’ve found!  I feel so grateful that as a result of this practice, I regularly experience miracles, either in my own health or in those of my clients..
